2008 LYSOSOMAL DISEASES AND THE BRAIN CONFERENCE
a conference hosted by The Children's Gaucher
Research Fund
Lysosomal Diseases and the Brain - Lysosomal storage disorders are relatively frequent as a group (1:7000) with most of these disorders affecting the central nervous system. This involvement of the brain often causes a progressive disease leading to the demise of the patients. No lysosomal disease has an effective treatment of its neurological manifestations. It is therefore extremely important to gather experts in the field from around the world to discuss recent advances of the pathogenesis and therapy of these disorders. It is hoped that the scheduled presentations at the 2008 conference and the discussions that follow will significantly contribute toward generating new research directions.
