2008 LYSOSOMAL DISEASES AND THE BRAIN CONFERENCE
a conference hosted by
The Children's Gaucher Research Fund
WHAT THEY'RE SAYING ABOUT US The following comments are from participants of past Lysosomal Diseases and the Brain Conferences submitted via e-mail and anonymous evaluations at the end of the event: Thank you again for a great conference. I have no doubt that the success of this meeting will lead to actualization of at least some of the novel approaches to the management of patients with neuronopathic storage diseases. I am already looking forward to the next meeting in 2006. (Ari Zimran M.D.- Gaucher Clinic - Shaare Zedek Medical Center - Jerusalem, Israel) Thank you for a wonderfully, coordinated conference. Where there was once limited vision and insight, now, more than a glimmer of hope, we have the fundamental building blocks of understanding and conceptual maps for research and development toward treatment and cure (Col. Kondi Wong M.D. USAF MC - Chief, Division of Neuropathology - Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland Airforce Base, TX) I would to again thank you for you the wonderful and critical work you did for the conference that allowed us concentrate on the scientific aspects of this conference. A very unique event-the best conference on this topic that I have ever attended. It was a slam dunk. (Raphael Schiffmann M.D.- National Institutes of Health) The knowledge gained from this research will be important in making positive strides for other pediatric genetic diseases. I am truly amazed at how far the CGRF has come in the short time of its existence! (Marty Sawaya M.D Ph.D. Senior Medical Director - Transkaryotic Therapies, Inc) The conference was excellent. The information presented was novel and informative and greatly appreciated by the attendees. (Roscoe Brady, M.D.- National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland) Exciting.... An important Milestone. The presented research will have impacts on many neurological diseases far beyond the landscape of Gaucher disease brain involvement. (Gregory Grabowski M.D. Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center) ... was certainly one of the best meetings I have attended ... when and where is the next one? (Jackie Imrie- Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)- Niemann Pick Disease, Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, England) Conference Evaluations: This was the most outstanding conference I have been to in years. Terrific Science! Most impressive were the new materials and surprising amount of new unpublished scientific data that was presented. Outstanding overview of the leading research in the field. In addition, a very friendly and cordial group of people. Topics and speakers were dynamic- good up-to-date information. The opportunity of global networking was one of the best things about the conference. ...liked that I learned more about the BBB and delivery system of medication to the brain- this was a wonderful conference and am looking forward to attending the next one!" ...size and tight focus/spacing of the talks were perfect. What I liked most was the interactions with people from different fields The cross-fertilization of ideas from different lysosomal diseases researchers was incredible. The conference was well organized; I enjoyed meeting the families of patients and experiencing the continuum of research and treatment... Well organized - right size - good speakers - interactive. Most comprehensive packet I have received at a conference of this size or anytime. You assembled a great group of investigators for presentations. I liked the basic science to mouse models to therapy progression. |
